Evolution of Blogger Events

At i.d.e.a. we regularly collaborate with our brand partners to create blogger events and experiences, many of which are family focused. A topic of discussion with the reputation team lately has been how we tweak what we offer at these events. We need to lead our clients to create moments that are truly unique and offer an experience that will be appealing and rewarding.

Something to remember when planning an event for this group is it usually means time or a night away from their children (yes, this is also a plus), juggling traffic, childcare and pick up/drop off schedules. The event has to be worth it.

Here is some food for thought when planning your next family blogger event:

  • If it’s a mom’s night out event, the experience really needs to be something great, memorable or exclusive. You are asking/offering these women a night out- yes. But it’s away from their family. Provide them with moments they couldn’t have on their own.
  • Plan your event over the weekend and invite the entire family. I often hear from moms and bloggers that they would love to have fun and cool things to do with their entire family.
  • If you’re inviting the entire family think about what will make all of their experiences more enjoyable. For example: age appropriate crafts, entertainment for the kids, a nice adult beverage for the parents, easy parking, fun takeaways for all, etc.
  • Give your attending bloggers something to do. This will provide opportunities for social sharing as well as more to write about in a post-event blog post (if he/she so chooses to write one).
  • Give the blogger items to giveaway to their readers. This helps them with content and to drive traffic to their site.
  • Nurture your relationships and know your audience. One size does not fit all.
