Great inventions result in breakthrough products and services which results in thriving businesses that create jobs and keep the U.S. competitive. But many Big Tech corporations have determined that it is simpler to steal a patent owner’s idea, and drag out interminably any legal challenge in court, than it is to simply get approval for the use of an invention. We call these thieves Patent Pirates… but we’ll get to that in a second. Big Tech knows that they can use their wealth, legal resources and weakened patent laws to drag out legal proceedings until small inventors give up or go under.
Save the American Inventor - a coalition of inventors, patent owners and stakeholders from a broad range of industries – came to 62ABOVE to create a campaign for members of congress (and their staff) to remind them that strong intellectual-property laws allow for investment in research and invention. STOP PATENT PIRATES became our rallying cry. Through dynamic videos, print & digital ads, a new website, emails and more, we bombarded D.C. We even created Stop Patent Pirates swag to be handed out at high-profile political conventions.
America’s future is inextricably linked to the vibrance of our innovation economy. Strong intellectual property laws allow for investment in research and invention. Great inventions result in breakthrough products and services. Those products and services result in thriving businesses that create jobs and ultimately keep the U.S. competitive. The Stop Patent Pirates campaign also gave us the opportunity to remind D.C. that they need to support the STRONGER Patents Act. A bipartisan bill aimed to restore the protections our inventors, universities, and start-ups need to stop Big Tech in their tracks.
